On our way home from church today, our 4-year-old granddaughter was looking at the clouds through the open sunroof of the car. It became a game, sharing with us what characters she saw in the cloud-shapes. “Look! An eagle! What big wings!” And a little while later, “I see an angel. She has no wings!”
I thought to myself, “An angel with no wings?” We meet people in our lives who are angels to us and they do not have wings – at least the kind we can see! But what struck me about her words, was that she did not give it a second thought – no wings on an angel – at age 4, surely would ask “why?” But she didn’t. She spoke plainly about what she saw – an angel with no wings. So I asked her why she thought the angel’s wings were missing. Without hesitation she replied, “Because she is working really hard in heaven and her wings are worn out! God needs to give her another pair!”
Consider the angels in your life today and give thanks for them!
