Remember the childhood nursery rhyme, Rain, rain, go away…come again another day? That nursery rhyme came into my head this morning when the rain was pelting against the sidewalk. That rhyme led me to think of songs that included rain. Immediately I thought of the following songs: Purple Rain, Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head, Let it Rain, The Sky is Crying, Fire & Rain, Crying in the Rain, Rainy Night in Georgia, Who’ll Stop the Rain. These are a handful of at least 100 popular songs that included rain in their lyrics. While we wait for the sun to shine, I am sure you can come up with some titles on your own.
After these hot and humid summer days, plants, trees and flowers welcome the falling rain. They drink its wetness as it refreshes their roots, leaves and buds. We find the rain refreshing, too.
